If you suffer from gum disease, Dr. Mormino can perform a scaling and root planing procedure, or deep cleaning, to restore your periodontal health. During treatment, he will remove pockets of plaque from below the gum line and smooth rough spots on the roots to prevent the accumulation of bacteria.

When temporomandibular joints (TMJs) become inflamed, patients can experience facial pain, neck stiffness, and frequent headaches. Dr. Mormino can often effectively treat symptoms of TMJ disorder with a custom-made oral appliance which can gently realign your jaw to reduce strain on jaw joints.

Patients should schedule routine dental exams and cleanings every six months, however, those at a high risk for decay or gum disease should be seen more frequently. During a dental cleaning, your hygienist will gently remove harmful plaque from the surfaces of teeth and look for signs of cavities.

Fluoride and sealants are highly effective tools to help prevent decay. Fluoride treatments strengthen enamel to make teeth more resistant to plaque buildup, which is especially beneficial for younger patients. Sealants are applied to the biting surfaces of teeth to create a layer of protection.

If you are nervous about your treatment, we offer sedation for your comfort. We can provide nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, a lighter form of sedation to put you at ease as well as oral conscious sedation, which creates a state of deep relaxation while remaining conscious and able to respond.
